Bristol City Council

We have been using Mawdsleys for at least six years and I’ve personally been involved with them since Nov 2014. As pump specialists they have been very responsive and flexible with arranging repairs at short notice for our subway tunnels and pumping stations. Their engineers have always been very helpful when meeting on site and we have a very good rapport with their area sales manager.

Troy Perkins

This morning your engineer Zach was on site to repair the pump. I am looking after approx. 85 engineers and I must admit he is one of the most polite & talented engineers I met during my career as an facility manager. He was not late, listened to what I have to say, left his workplace place clean, advised correctly and most importantly, he knows what he is doing.

Case Study - Emergency Sewage Pump Breakdown

Mawdsleys Pumps were called to attend a sewage pumping station at a private residence. Following a checkup from our team, a number of problems were found within the system including failed internal pipework and valves.

Our team were able to carry out the work on site and after assembling and installing new pipework and valves, the pump operated as usual again. Following completion of work, the customer took up a maintenance contract with us to prevent a breakdown like this in future.

Pump Repair FAQs

Yes. Mawdsleys is based in Bristol and our engineers cover Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Newport, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Exeter, Swindon, Southampton, Weston-super-Mare and many surrounding areas across the South West and South Wales. Call us on 0117 954 8030 and we’ll confirm coverage for your location immediately — if we can reach you, we will.

We repair all types of pumps including sewage pumps, submersible pumps, booster pumps, borehole pumps, well pumps, stormwater and flood pumps, basement and cellar pumps, clean water pumps, and rainwater harvesting pumps. We work on all major brands including Grundfos, Lowara, Flygt, TT Pumps, DAB, Ebara, Pedrollo, Wilo, KSB and Mono.

The majority of pump repairs are carried out on-site by our engineers during the call-out visit. Where a pump requires full strip-down, motor rewinding or bench testing, it is transported to our Bristol workshop at Kingsland Trading Estate. In both cases we aim to minimise your downtime — on-site repairs are completed in one visit wherever possible, and workshop repairs are turned around as quickly as the fault allows.

As a general guide, if the cost of repair exceeds 50–75% of the price of a new equivalent unit, replacement is usually the more sensible long-term investment — particularly if the existing pump is more than 10–15 years old. Our engineers will give you an honest assessment on-site and won’t push for replacement if a repair is the right answer.
