Packaged Pumping Stations

Packaged Pumping Stations

When a gravity connection to the main sewage line is not possible or practical, then a private, packaged pump station is required.

Pumping stations range from small, single pump sumps designed for an annex or converted basement, up to large twin pump systems for industrial and commercial settings such as hotels, care homes and schools.

Mawdsleys Pump Services are experienced in the specification, installation, repair and ongoing maintenance of packaged pump stations for both private and commercial applications.

Site Survey & Specification– during this stage there will be lots of questions.  We’ll need to know information about the site, distances to the main sewer line, depth to invert.  Due to the importance of getting this information correct – a site survey is often recommended.

Quotation – With no affiliation to any manufacture, we have access to the whole market to offer you the best value equipment.

Installation & Commissioning – We work with a select group of groundworks contractors to carry out the groundwork for the installation of the packaged pumping system to offer you a turnkey solution. Additionally, we can provide a complete pump commissioning service to ensure the pump is correctly configured and installed before first time use.

Maintenance – annual or sixth monthly servicing is the norm for package pumping stations.  It is important that regular maintenance is carried out trained personnel – they will check the correct operation of the control system and to also check the condition of the sump.  Wet wipes and excessive volumes of fat and grease are extremely problematic for submersible pumps and are the reason for the majority of call outs we deal.

Repair – We understand how disruptive pump issues can be. If your packaged pump station has failed or is experiencing underperformance, we offer a 24/365 pump emergency breakdown service to get your pump working again.

Questions We Ask During Our Initial Discussion

Below is list of the typical questions we’ll ask during our initial discussion with you:

  1. How many people will the system service
  2. What is the nature of the site – domestic, commercial, industrial?
  3. What do you need to pump – sewage, storm water or drainage?
  4. Do you know the difference in level between inlet and discharge into outfall chamber?
  5. Do you have single or three phase power available?
  6. Will the chamber be located in a roadway or carpark?

Please note the above list isn’t exhaustive.

Ben Newman

South Gloucestershire Council
The work was completed on time and on budget. This was not an easy project as the pumps had to remain in constant use throughout the work. Mawdsleys managed the project with a standby pump to enable full use of the system while the works were undertaken. We are extremely pleased with the new system and Mawdsleys continue to provide an invaluable service to us and our customers.

Jonathan Parker, Managing Director

Cabot Industrial Properties
We have been using Mawdsleys for at least six years and I’ve personally been involved with them since Nov 2014. As pump specialists they have been very responsive and flexible with arranging repairs at short notice for our subway tunnels and pumping stations. Their engineers have always been very helpful when meeting on site and we have a very good rapport with their area sales manager.
