Quarries and Mining

Quarries and Mining

There are over 2000 active mines and quarries in the UK, these quarries produce a wide range of important materials including building stone, industrial minerals and construction aggregate.  In order to improve and retain operational efficiency, the need for reliable pumping equipment is vital; inadequate systems can lead to reduced productivity and costly downtime.

Mawdsleys Pump Services have been offering services to Mines and Quarries across the South West for many years, fast becoming a trusted partner for dewatering pumps, dust suppression, pontoon design and bespoke water booster system design and installation for water fed machinery.

Testimonials

We have been using Mawdsleys for at least six years and I’ve personally been involved with them since Nov 2014. As pump specialists they have been very responsive and flexible with arranging repairs at short notice for our subway tunnels and pumping stations. Their engineers have always been very helpful when meeting on site and we have a very good rapport with their area sales manager.

We at WWT Slimbridge in Gloucestershire have been using Mawdsleys for several years. We have found them very obliging and very quick in responding to any faults and breakdowns. At WWT we rely on pumping stations for pumping sewage to various pumping stations which eventually are pumped to a reed bed. It is essential that we have a good response time. The costs are competitive and no one has ever beaten them on our contract pricing. They are always courteous and nothing is too much trouble for them.

De-Watering Pumps For Quarries and Mining Sites

Water control is one of the most common concerns in the mining industry, requiring a reliable system to control and extract water as soon as it is present. Submersible dewatering pumps are a dependable, efficient and cost effective solution.

At Mawdsleys, we have a huge range of submersible pumps available to suit any application or environment.

Motor Rewind and Repair

Quarries and mining sites are heavily reliant on forklifts, conveyors, extractors and other machines to keep their operation running. When these motors fail or begin to become less efficient, it can have a serious impact on the business.

At Mawdsleys, we specialise in the repair and rewind of all makes and models of AC & DC motors and associated equipment. Our in-house workshop allows us to quote competitively and complete work in a prompt manner.

Dust Suppression

Failing to suppress dust can result in damage to employee’s health, damage to machinery, airborne dust spreading to local areas and low visibility.

At Mawdsleys, we offer the LRI Portable Long Reach Irrigation System as our preferred system for suppressing dust on quarry and mining sites. This system is portable, on demand and can operate on a standard mains water supply.

Bespoke Water Booster Systems

Water fed machinery often requires high water pressure in order to operate; low water pressure results in reduced efficiency of this machinery; meaning the whole operation struggles.

Mawdsleys offers the creation of bespoke booster pump systems to suit the needs of even the most challenging operation. Once installed we can provide ongoing maintenance contracts, overhauls and emergency 24/7 repairs to your system.
